NEW YORK, NY, USA  —

Alongside the Permanent Mission of Saint Lucia to the United Nations and the International Coalition for People of African Descent, the Pan-African Council hosts an in-person panel at the United Nations Headquarters in New York this May 31st, 2023, to be led by Ambassador Chevy Eugene.

The panel will take place during the 2nd Session of Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (PFPAD), announced by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Reparations, Debt, & Wealth: Reimagining the Possibilities of Economic Liberation for People of African Descent.

The panel, followed by a Q & A session, is based on the central question: What does debt cancellation and financial compensation look like for people of African Descent in varied regions/countries within a reparatory justice framework?

Moreover, one of the overall goals of this event is to advocate for a Global Reparations Commission that the PFPAD facilitates in collaboration with the multiple international reparations movement associated with conquest, enslavement, colonialism and neocolonialism in support of People of African Descent across the diasporas.
